As part of the roll-out of a strategic digital transformation programme, our client is looking to strengthen its team within the Application Development and Maintenance Division.

Job description

This role forms part of a digital transformation initiative aimed at improving the performance, quality and agility of the Information System, which is deployed and operated in an on-premises environment ( in-house hosted infrastructure, excluding public and hybrid clouds).

The on-premises software factory is at the heart of the application delivery chain. It brings together all the critical tools: GitLab, Jenkins, Nexus and SonarQube

Our client is seeking a Software Factory Administrator capable of ensuring the continuity of service, security and scalability of this platform. You will not simply be a DevOps Engineer using this software factory, but its administrator. You will be responsible for managing software factory version upgrades, ensuring the rigorous application of security patches, managing access rights and overseeing overall performance.

You will work closely and continuously with all technical teams (developers, project management, architecture, infrastructure, networking and operational security).

Essential skills

  • Ensuring the software factory complies with security and performance requirements: Deploy major and minor releases and apply security patches for the software factory tools GitLab, Jenkins, Nexus, SonarQube and Redmine, whilst adhering to technical prerequisites (database migration, plugin updates, checking for breaking changes, etc.).
  • Ensure the backup, restoration and disaster recovery (DR) testing of all tools.
  • Manage user permissions (projects, groups, sensitive pipelines).
  • Carry out periodic access reviews and delete obsolete accounts.
  • Implement policies for isolating environments (development, acceptance testing, production) within the tools.
  • Ensure the provisioning of CI/CD pipelines for projects (setting up/migrating Jenkins build/deployment jobs, creating GitLab repositories, granting/revoking permissions, etc.)
  • Set up and maintain Ansible playbooks for provisioning CI/CD pipelines

  • Carry out application deployments ( executing SQL scripts, configuring properties, verifying correct operation, etc.) and implement the associated configurations in ancillary systems (authorisation matrix management tools, batch scheduler-type tools, etc.)
  • Support Application Owners in diagnosing and optimising application performance

  • Set up and optimise build pipelines; automate deployments; design and maintain automation pipelines for all environments;
  • Contribute to the drafting of the Technical Design Specification;
    Contribute to the drafting and presentation of technical approval documentation for the software factory;

Possible activities (non-exhaustive list)

As part of all projects falling within the scope of their operational remit:

  • Facilitate and/or participate in various project meetings (COPRO, COPIL, team meetings);
  • Develop and implement new tools;
  • Participate in periodic HNO interventions relating to system roll-out or patch management;
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Division’s processes with a view to ensuring high-quality service delivery to business departments.

Their knowledge of software technologies and architectures enables them to play an active role in the design phases of upgrades and fixes for all solutions deployed on the IT system.

  • Reports to the Head of the Technical Design and Development Section

Profile

  • Qualifications required / Education: Five years’ higher education in computer science
  • Required experience: At least 5 years’ experience in roles such as Software Operations Manager or DevOps Integrator
  • Language: Business English essential; advanced level desirable
  • Experience working with major clients or large public sector organisations is desirable

Know how

Essential Skills

  • Solid knowledge of general information system technologies and architectures , and of N-tier architectures;
  • In-depth expertise in CI/CD tools and software development platforms such as Jenkins, GitLab, Git, Nexus, SonarQube, etc.;
  • Knowledge of configuration management tools such as Ansible;
  • Scripting and automation (Bash, Python, PowerShell, etc.);
  • SQL querying ;
  • Knowledge of environments running on Linux/Unix and Windows Server operating systems;
  • Knowledge of platform concepts for a sensitive IT system;
  • Proven experience of working with infrastructure teams ( virtualisation, architecture, system administration, networking, backup, monitoring);
  • Drafting and utilising technical documents relating to software platform requirements (scope definition, technical specifications, DAT, DCT, DEX);
  • Ability to resolve IT issues, identify root causes, implement fixes or propose workarounds;
  • Drafting RIDA reports;
  • Proficiency in office and collaborative software tools;
  • Proficiency in the French language;

Desired skills (a significant advantage)

  • Knowledge of the Java ecosystem: Maven, Spring Framework and the associated ecosystem;
  • A DevOps certification would be an advantage.
