The digital project manager coordinates digital marketing operations within the company. Their position is central: they liaise between the creative and technical teams to ensure the success of web marketing initiatives, from conception to online launch.
Reporting to the Marketing Director, they are responsible for the complete management of the project, complying with the specifications and meeting the company's needs. In addition to their management and coordination skills, they use their creativity to propose strategies and solve problems, sometimes working with external teams.
The digital project manager must have an excellent knowledge of key digital marketing concepts such as KPIs, acquisition levers and browsing habits. They must be familiar with analytics tools (Google Analytics 4, Matomo) and certain CMS such as WordPress or Drupal. They have knowledge of advertising platforms (AdWords, Facebook Ads) and the use of ticketing tools such as Jira/Confluence. He or she will have some knowledge of natural search engine optimisation, although he or she will frequently work with the web SEO. Fluency in technical English is appreciated.
In addition to their technical skills, digital project managers are able to manage and motivate a team by demonstrating leadership. Their rigour and organisation enable them to manage projects effectively, while their analytical skills and creativity help them to solve problems and innovate. Digital project managers are good communicators. Their flexibility and responsiveness enable them to adapt quickly to change.
Digital project managers have a degree ( bac +3 to bac +5) in IT, digital marketing or communications, obtained at a university, business school or specialist college. Degrees range from professional bachelor's degrees in digital marketing to master's degrees in digital project management or digital strategy.
After several years' experience, digital project managers may aspire to become project directors, supervising several project managers. They may also move into a digital manager role, overseeing a company's overall digital strategy, encompassing marketing and e-commerce.
